I think thousands is a bit of an overstatement. ;)How many hours do you work per year? 1600 hours? For how many years have you written non-Linq code?
there were VFP folks writing SOAP code and other code long before later versions made it a little easier....does that mean the extra effort they had to put in made them feel less then clever in later years???We invested heavily to create our own visual elements such as tabs in FPW, only to see that work rendered obsolete when VFP was released. Ditto the changes from FPW C/S access to VFP. But if we already had all those features in "product x" and FP people were lecturing us to jump across because FPW is so much better, perhaps you'll agree that some people might feel satisfaction when VFP was released that they didn't jump earlier and spend happy hours learning to carve their own tabs and write DDE C/S calls.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
