>>>First off, I'm not a fan of Rush. Having said that, I must admit that the intro to that single (Fry Cry) sounded great...until Geddy started to sing. Arrrrggghhh I can't stand to hear that man's singing voice. There is just something about his vocals that gets under my skin.

>>>Oh, well....to each his own. Lee is recognized as a vocal wizard in music. If you listen to him in concern, he sounds pretty close to what he does on an album.

>>>I don't care much for the early Geddy Lee (where he was practically screeching), but by around 1980, when Permanent Waves came out, he started to develop a much better sound.

>>IMHO, Bobby Mcferrin, Ella Fitzgerald, Kurt Elling, Janis Siegel... those are vocal wizards. Lee is a guy who sticks his mouth on the mike and yells. No better or worse than a couple hundred others.

Ah, yes, but still, a wizard, good or bad, has to have something special. Geddy Lee as a singer, afaic really is no better or worse than hundreds of others. Ok, he can carry a tune, but his vocal musicality, seems pretty average to me.
