I think that allows you to delete a project from a solution. It doesn't allow you to delete the solution.
I found this confusing .

A solution can contain multiple projects.

If your solution is open then see if you can see the solution explorer . If you can't then use the View menu to open it . Then right click on your project in the solution and you'll get a remove option.This won't remove the solution. The only way I've found to remove the solution is to delete the files manually outside Visual Studio.
