>Well, in fairness, I didn't become a KU fan until the early 1990's. In the 1980's I loved the NBA and didn't care much for college hoops. I didn't start following college hoops until the Running Rebels, and then became a KU fan around the same time I start following the Chiefs.

The Runnin' Rebels -- now that was another fun team to watch. They had about five guys who went on to the NBA and won most games by a wide margin. After winning one tournament (1990?) they were undefeated the next season and heavily favored to repeat until Duke (Grant Hill, Christian Laettner, Bobby Hurley) knocked them off in the semis. Ironically enough, Duke won again the next season, the last team to repeat.

That's so hard to do now that you have to win six games and teams get younger and younger. When UCLA was winning all those championships in the 60s and 70s it was a 23 team field. I read in Sports Illustrated the other day that the first year John Wooden's UCLA team won it there were seven teams ranked in the top 20 who didn't even qualify for the tournament. There were still bombs to dodge, just not as many of them.

Have you watched Florida much this season? They're a hard team to figure out.
