Hi Andy,

I fully understand that you felt an urge to prevent an eventual spread of a rumor about having left the community. Which would've been absurd indeed and all well informed people know what your involvement is, on Foxite and many other places and on conferences and so on.

But you could have said this all in neutral words. Why did you write: This sort of attitude is precisely why I don't waste my time here and if you have anything else to say about me, then I suggest you say it to me personally and not behind my back here. Was there a specific reason why you thought it wise to write that too? Should I first read that whole thread in order to find the remarks that motivated you? Or is there something else at stake? I'd like to know, because as you've written it now, I'm not sure whether you refer to us all or just to some here, when using the words 'attitude' and 'waste'.

>>Here is one question you might ask Andy if UT premiere membership (which I do not have, BTW) is a show stopper for him. Was Compuserve free? It wasn't for me before it was comped.
>
>No, compuserve was NOT free. But it did provide many other services (for example local access numbers world-wide, telephone support and hosting services) which were what you paid for. You did not have to pay to access any forum, or use any of the tools, that the forums provided. Access to archives and search engines were (and are) completely free.
>
>I didn't realize that the UT provided anything for the money other than access to itself.....?
>(and by the way, _I_ do get a free membership because I am an MVP - but that has nothing to do with what I do)
>
>>Please urge him to come back to the FoxPro community.
>
>I have never left the community! Your view that the VFP Community is somehow linked to this site is nothing short of insulting to an awful lot of very hard working people all over the world. This sort of attitude is precisely why I don't waste my time here and if you have anything else to say about me, then I suggest you say it to me personally and not behind my back here.
>
>I would also suggest that maybe YOU should try and find the REAL FoxPro community - in places like Foxite, on the MSDN forums, on the Microsoft Public Forums, the Virtual FoxPro User Group and Compuserve (in ALL of which you will find ME!) plus other sites that I simply don't have time to visit regularly like Tek-Tips and PortalFox
>
>Then maybe you might also read my Blog, or take a free Webinar that I gave, or attend a conference session that I give, or go to a User Group meeting that I give, or read one of the articles the Marcia and I write for every iussue of FP Advisor (and that I have written every month since April 1998).

>I'm so sorry that in your valuable opinion I have "left the community"

Constructive frustration is the breeding ground of genius.
If there’s no willingness to moderate for the sake of good debate, then I have no willingness to debate at all.
Let's develop superb standards that will end the holy wars.
