Hi Joel and all,

I have found out why I was not experiencing the rendering issues discussed by Rick et al. I found that the rendering issues with the popup menu and fixed border dialog screens only happens when I have "Enable Desktop Composition" selected under the (right click Computer) - System Properties - Advanced - Windows Performance Settings - Visual Effects dialog. This is part of the Aero theme look. If you switch this off then the rendering issues are resolved (as far as I can see in our app).

>Rick Strahl and Doug Hennig talk about some rendering issues at the link below, but I think these will be fixed in SP2.

>>I just installed a copy of Windows Vista Business edition under VMWare. All went fast and smooth.
>>
>>I then installed our primary product, a VFP9 application which uses various third party tools like Dynazip for instance. Besides having to run the main app the first time as Administrator, which I suspect was for the purpose of registering the various ocx's, everything ran perfectly.
>>
>>I was also pleasantly surprised to find that the app looks good. Its not Office 2007 of course but its also not like some ancient app either. We do use a decent commercial icon suite and I find the whole appearence very acceptable. I'm sure someone will come up with a Office 2007 style ribbon control in due course. I know that one was mentioned here on the UT not so long ago. I do find the window borders of all the apps, not just ours, a bit too thick but I cannot see a place to set them smaller. They are set to "1" under the screen personalization dialog.
>>
>>All in all I think that so far VFP9 works and looks fine under Vista, at least for us.

>>fwiw ...
