Trust me, the French DO know how to make cars - but not American cars. Their cars have the charm, originality, ingenuity, elegance, neat little tricks, original looks - and not the n hundred HP, macho looks and 200 little electric motors for any movable part in the cabin.

Don't confuse the taste of American importers, who simply never knew how to sell French cars, with engineering and quality. Even the smallest French cars (and I drove Citroën 2CV and a Renault 4 and a bit of Renault 14) were very comfortable, held the road well and ran quite fine, despite the smallish engines.
