http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;[ln];lifecycleNote the star for the non security hotfixes ... That nuances the story.... MS CAN BE FORCED TO DELIVER NON SECURITY HOTFIXES AFTER 2009, esspecialiy if we as a community combine forces and make agreements with MS.
So you conclusion that if a new OS would break VFP to work after 2009 is not accurate: MS probably will fix the issue as it is obligated to do that under contract.
>And yes, I remember FP2.6 and that whole situation too. But keep in mind that that was during a time where there was a Fox team and the whole product overall was still kicking and FoxPro in general was well supported and enhanced. So it probably wasn't that big a deal to have a fix. But past 2010, the situation will be (and probably already is) very different.
Hmmm, I don't see that difference. If several thousands of people and companies are going to screen for a hotfix MS will be force to get one. There are still a lot of big companies using VFP. Big companies that a huge code investment in VFP and therefore have not the ability to switch to a different development environment, will use all their influence to get this fixed as was the case for FPW 2.6.
