This might cause OTHER stuff not to run that you want -- if you're using Firefox, it's easy to turn on and off for the sites that you want it for. Also, you may wish to turn off images -- some J/JS code can accompany them as well.
Done, but I still have popups.
>2. Be certain that you've updated the control files for Spybot and Ad-Aware. They're constantly changing to include new threats.
They are up to date.
>3. If you're still getting them, you may have picked up a "ghostbot" program that has to be manually removed. These are VERY tricky to get rid of -- just removing them with Add/Remove Programs doesn't always work. You might get some help by Googling *some of the text of the window in quotes* and checking for ideas from folks that have been successful in removing it.
I've tried that path, but the steps to follow are very tedious and I fear that by not knowing how I got infected, I will get infected again later.
>4. If THAT doesn't work, you're usually stuck with reformatting. Sorry.
Yikes! :(
