>>>I was listening to Al Gore, and I'm not sure what he meant by his family being "carbon nutural"... what is it?
>>
>>IOW it's a lie. I'm assuming here you're not taking the piss out of his accent. He probably said "carbon neutral", meaningthe amount of CO2 that his family outputs, as in heating, elec, car use, jet travel, etc. is offset by his buying carbon bonds or whatever the hell they call them, e.g. supposedly to plant a tree to absorb the CO2 he accounts for. It's all a big paper-over-the-cracks scam, and another example of the unstoppable GW bandwaggon.

>I'm a GW person, but even I believe as you apparently do, that the whole carbon trading scheme is just a smoke and mirrors scam to allow polluters to continue polluting. Whoever thought up that scam to tack onto the process probably cackles himself to sleep every night.

There's just not enough land to plant enough trees. Besides, whatever CO2 they absorb they won't be fully operational for decades, when they mature, and by that time they'll probably have been forgotten about and felled anyway! That's the point that's missed. Is every carbon-traded tree gonna have an affadavit stuck to it: "Hey loggers, please don't fell as this is Carbon trade account XXXXXX-XX-XXXX planted tree"? One of the pressures on this plaet, besides GW, is the disappearance of our trees.
- Whoever said that women are the weaker sex never tried to wrest the bedclothes off one in the middle of the night
- Worry is the interest you pay, in advance, for a loan that you may never need to take out.
