>Yes, I agree. Many DRM attempts have been a desaster. Still, that doesn't mean one has to stop, right?

No right. "One" has to stop until he can deliver a working solution for both parts. "One" cannot deliver solutions that simply don't work. "One" cannot attempt against your rights. If DRM works it can be wonderful as you say. Problem is that 90% of the implementations don't work (and I'm being generous). And it's a same that "One" can deliver those "solutions".

Could you imaging something similiar in the car industry, for example? A car that stop working as soon as you pass the border? A car that does not start because you forgot whatever strange mechanism? A car you cannot repair if it gets broken? A car you cannot lend to your friend? A car ...................

The car example might not be the best one. Here are three direct related: In theory when you buy a DVD or a CD or a piece of software you are buying the right to access to that intelectual property, right? Why the hell if your child breaks a DVD you cannot get a replacement from the internet (for free) or a shop for the price of the DVD only? I travel a lot between South America and Europe, and I just can't play DVD as I want, why? Why I have to buy DVD of the films I bought 5 years ago in VHS format, didn't I pay for the intelectual property?
