This depends on the licensing type. The link you provided is for SQL Server using a per client licensing scheme, which is OK when you have a pretty limited number of clients. the price is for the server and 5 client licenses.
The other method of licensing is per processor, which is more expensive to start (around $3000/processor I believe) but you are allowed unlimited connections.
