I guess 32-bit COM is still possible (otherwise Office would have trouble on 64-bit OS) and if that is correct accessing vfp tables should be possible with vfp<g>. The first step I'ld take carefullly still in vfp, and the next step probably in the directions you mentioned<bg>.
