He predicted he would dominate Oden in the game. He likened them to David and Goliath. (Oden, who seems to have a sly sense of humor for a kind of scary looking guy, said between the press conference and the game that he seemed to remember that David won that battle). Box score: Oden, 17 points and 9 rebounds; Dorsey, no points and 3 rebounds. And an Ohio State victory.

>>>He's just another one of those kids who could only enter college because of an athletic scholarship. So don't "hate on" him for not being erudite. He's a very good basketball player, but probably doesn't even know the story of David and Goliath - the Philistine. As I said before the game, I didn't think we could win, they just had better talent. We'll be better next year.

>>I'm not going to hate a 19 or 20 year old kid. Most of us are knuckleheads at that age.

>I don't hate him. It's just the reality. He is a very good athlete, probably not much of a student. Most follow that pattern. As for teenage knuckeheads, I tell my kids their lights won't really come on until they reach 30. That seems to be the "magic" age. The lights grow brighter as you get to it. Then there is that ever growing group whose lights never turn completely on . . . .

The coddling of athletes is something the NCAA should be ashamed of if they weren't so busy making money from them hand over fist. In the big revenue programs (men's basketball and football) they make a fortune with relatively little outlay. I read that Greg Oden is pulling down 12 credit hours for Varsity Basketball, Sociology 101, and Basket Weaving or some such. And the obscenely capitalistic Ohio State athletic department makes a fortune. (THE Ohio State University). It's a farce.
