When binding a text box to a character field (say of length 30), the field values are displayed correctly. But when I edit the value by adding a character or two at the end, it extends the length of the field to be more than 30 (spaces at the end are not trimmed).

This causes an error on saving because the lenght of the field exceeds the defined length in the database. What are some good ways of "fixing" this issue?
