Didn't Peter install Vista before 2003? That might be causing the problem, as I believe you are supposed to install the newest operating system last.
I really need to get a copy of Vista. I am starting to feel left out. My dad wants to get a new laptop, but all we can find are laptops with Vista pre-installed. I haven't used it, so I don't know if I can help him out with it over the phone when he needs it.
