I know you aren't going to want to hear this, but I completely gave up on Jordan after about book 4. I really got tired of his treatment of women as screeching manipulators, and I got very tired of the story too. Maybe he cleaned up his act later in the series, but I'd really had it by then.
Another series I do like is the Honor Harrington series by David Weber.
Overall, I think I began to tire of fantasy much sooner than SF. I found the stories began to run together in my mind. I just wasn't finding enough new ideas to keep me interested.
In the fantasy vein, if you haven't read them yet, try to find The Fionavar Tapestry, a trilogy by Guy Gavriel Kay, and The Deed of Paksenarrion by Elisabeth Moon.
