One of my apps has an interface where users browse the contents of a pecified folder on the server and can download files on it. I was thinking it should be possible to select multiple files and compress them server-side into a single ZIP file to transfer. I have seen the exact same solution on a site I visit on a regular basis, but I also know it runs on another platform. Is there something like this for .NET 2.0?

I know that you should be able to accomplish this in code with no third party tools... however, I don't know how. I read a bit about it once but never got around to doing it. Maybe Google for ".NET compressing files" or something like that.
Very fitting: http://xkcd.com/386/
