I'm obviously coming late to this discussion, but I wanted to add one thing worth mentioning:

It looks to me like you guys were talking about two different things ... John was talking about a ListView and Jim was talking about a ListBox. Two totally different animals, as I'm sure you both know. ListBoxes are databindable, whereas ListViews are not.
