It's a hypothetical situation. If you *did* respond in those terms, you know very well that your customer would interpret your personal prioritization as the strongest form of commitment. You're just avoiding the issue.

No, I'm not avoiding the issue. I don't respond in those terms.

Seems to me there's a way to resolve this. What's the one question that you haven't bothered (or dared) to ask?
