I agree you in that MS shareholders do not care about VFP. But I disagree in that VFP does not make money for MS; it does more than it seems. Just an exmaple: last year I sold US$ 100.000 in Windows 2003 and Windows XP licences only to access our application. Those 100.000 dolars are directly related to VFP, If VFP hasn't existed, that income wouldn't exist.

It is very well known that developers are a key factor in Microsoft success. Applications developed for the Windows plataform are a key to have many companyes tied to Microsft environment. They could even give VFP for free and it still would be worth it.

Developer tools make sense, even if they don't pay directly what they cost. Indirectly they do. Their ROI is very high, and is easy to see why.
