Windows 2000 Server
I have an application that was originally built in VFP6 and has been running serveral years. In February we released the 2007 version that is upgraded to VFP8. We give the users an upgrade in the Install shield that will install the updated files and the runtime libraries for VFP8. In most instances this is working fine.
In one case the installation is onto a Windows 2000 Terminal Server. The user has installed through the Add/Remove Programs as is required under Terminal Services. She is signed on as the Administrator and has selected the option to install for all users. The upgrade install defaults to load into the c:\lcode directory. This has worked on many other systems but for some reason on this one the install actually placed the files in "c:\". On this system we were able to move the files to the appropriate directory c:\lcode and the application runs. The Run Time Libraries were found. Now when she signs onto the server as one of the regular users she get an error the the run time libraries are not found.
In a seperate installation the upgrade appears to run fine, going to completion as expected. When the user runs the application they still have the old version. When we search the drive for another copy of the executable there is none found. In this case the operating system is Windows XP Pro.
I have at least another dozen instance where the upgrade install goes fine.
What is going on?
Alan
