>I am in the middle of porting an Access application over to VFP. The original uses msWord for most of its reports by using a template containing bookmarks and then navigating to the bookmark and TypeText() the desired data. I find this extremely clumsey mostly because I dislike Word and avoid it as a wordprocessor whenever I can. My user likes the technique because they sometimes "tweak" the report after it is generated. I've thought about converting the word processor to WordPerfect which is also used in the office but this brings some addtional complications.

You can do the same for them in excel.
Prepare template, preset paging, and fixed blocks of text
and then simply insert figures inot apropriate cells.
Then you do oXL.saveas and your template stays intact while
user gets his brand new easy-to-tweak toy.

They will love you for this; because even if they don't dislike
word (like we do) they love/use excel lot more.
I'v done tons of this.
Have look at rep2excel download here in downloads; you will find some
nice examples of filling up predesigned template.
