Uh, you didn't answer the question I asked. Do you have to type it in? I wouldn't want to code ASP.NET by hand in HTML, either.

OK, so you're interested in PHP IDEs to avoid coding everything by hand? Sorry, when you said the code was godawful I assumed you were disagreeing with my point about its obviousness.

I googled "php ide" and found this: http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/library/os-php-ide/index.html . There are *heaps* of plugins to automatically create stubs for SQL access as well.

There is also GUI stuff for Dremweaver as Dragan mentioned- e.g. http://www.interaktonline.com/Products/Free-Products/PHAkt/Overview/

All I'm suggesting is that it's *easy* to take a look at this stuff. I'm not holding myself out as a guru and nor have I made a decision yet (unlike others, it would seem ;-) ) so if people are interested, don't ask me, just take a look.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
