I know what you mean. My dog now (really my daughter Emily's dog, I just take care of her most of the time) is half cocker spaniel. That half seems to obligate her to empty her bladder in any new environment. She immediately finds the most private place she can and pees. I asked the vet about it and she said yeah, that's kinda characteristic of spaniels.
The vet's name, BTW, is Dr. Barkus. Is that too perfect for words?
