It was the Vista Business Upgrade (from the MS Action Pack), installed over a clean install of XP Professional SP2.

Hardware specs:

2.0 ghz Turion64 Processor
1.0 GB RAM
80 GB 5400rpm Hard Drive
ATI 128mb dedicated video

I say 2.0 MB of RAM and 256MB of dedicated video memory is an absolute minimum.

My problem though was the slowdown over time. It seemed to take longer and longer everytime I booted the machine. The boot to Windows was less than a minute. The time before I could actually *do* anything got longer and longer with each passing day.

I believe we should all be looking at Vista. You're going to need some experience with it when a customer buys a new PC with it or upgrades their current machine.

But, for day to day production work --- no freaking way am I going back to Vista.

>That doesnt sound good. But I dont see where he notes the hardware specs for the machine he had Vista installed on, and if it was a clean install to begin with.
