This is the wierdest thing I have come across since working with foxpro. I'm going to take a few hours away from this mind numbing stuff and do what you suggest with the set-up tonight. Do you know if the difficulties that I'm having with joined queries are directly related to the newer runtime...just curious. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge, and cross your fingers for me.

Well, John, I don't know if it'll help - I haven't read the other bits of this thread. Just knew that SP3 didn't automatically update your distributable runtime dlls if you had already run the wizard. It was a readme note that came with SP3 that I downloaded. I'm sure that all you need to do is clear out the compressed file....
just a sec. and I'll check my own disk....
switching to real time mode :-)
would you believe I haven't run setup on this machine yet...
(just a new laptop!)....
re-running setup now ....
there, done!...
aaahhh, there it is! Just delete the "vfp\Distrib" directory and the wizard will recreate it for you next time with the latest dlls !
HTH and good luck
