My .NET development is still a lot more book learning and experimentation than employable work experience. For what little it's worth I prefer VB.NET to C#.NET and ASP.NET to both.

>Both Mike and Toni have been doing a lot of client work ( definitely pays the bills better than selling frameworks ) but this has greatly benefited the framework. Lots of new features. I think it is important to for framework builders ( who can tend to space out on the wonders of design patterns ) to actually use the framwork to the limit in solving business problems. VFE now has that balance and it has been a very good thing.

>>I see you have posted a photo. The black/white contrast leaves a bit of a Satanic effect, doesn't it? "You will tell us what you know, Mr. Mohammed...."
>>
>>I agree completely with your comments in your other message about the wisdom of independents leveraging frameworks. It would be downright arrogant of me to think I could home grow the functionality of VFE or other frameworks for a few hundred dollars worth of labor. Hubris, as you aptly put it.
>>
>>And it's good to see Mike and Toni have a new release out, newer than the last one I knew about. I was starting to wonder whether they had split the scene. (And by that I mean a new version of VFE -- saw the news of their other new release on Toni's blog).

>>>I don't know I saw him in Toledo in Feb and in typical Karsten fashion he was asking something rather vague about a hypothetical ( or perhaps other-wordly ) event. It was in the context of a discussion with Leafe about Dabo/Python so I don't think he meant a VFE thing. Think he's talking about just an informal bring-your-laptop and showoff whatever you are doing that's cool. I haven't heard anything since so he may have been called back to the mothership < s >

>>>>>>Thanks. Let me know if you are going to be out this way. There is a chance I will be passing through Cleveland with the girls on vacation this summer.

>>>>>I'll do that. Karsten has been making noises about getting some folks to come to Chi in the spring for a geekfest. Definitely let me know if you are headed toward Cleveland this summer ( the snow may even be gone by then :-)

>>>>What kind of geekfest is Carl making noises about? VFP, VFE? Usually I get wind of FUDG events and have not heard anything yet. One potential problem for me is it would probably be on a weekend and on spring weekends I am busy with daughters, soccer, or both. We'll see.
