If you are going to be working with images in VFP, I can recommend a library called ImgSource (http://www.smalleranimals.com/isource.htm). It's an API-style DLL that is easy to use and requires no special installation or privs to use. We have been using a previous-generation version of ImgSource called ImgDLL for years and it has treated us very well. If you need to distribute apps with image-processing capabilities, smalleranimals provides a royalty-free license, and the entire license fee is a single-time $60. Considering what this library can do, I think it's really a great deal for developers.
