Once again, I think your take on this is right on the money and is exactly the reason I signed - though I completely agree with those who say it will accomplish nothing in changing Microsoft's decision and understanding why MS has made a decision I would have made differently.

But I also appreciate the special community that has been so much fun and such a very special place over the years. ( and I'm talking about Foxgang and back to CIS in the early 90s ) I would not want to do anything - either explicitly or implicitly - to not acknowledge what all that has meant to me, both professionally and personally.

BTW I think it is worth noting that there is this kind of community developing in places outside of the Fox world. I have seen similar communities growing in various .NET forums as well - and with a very large and growing user base. I would simply suggest that as those of us who have known the special atmosphere in the Fox world expand our on-line participation in other spheres we take that spirit with us and help spread the attitude that made all this so special. Yeah, Fox is a great language yadayadayada but that isn't what makes all this what it is.

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
