Gentlemen,

Thanks for the immediate replies. Team work is the only way to go!

Tom,

>Get your hands dirty. You will never learn until you blunder. Like an electronics tech buddy of mine said -- 'you ain't never lived until you plug a chip in backwards (smoke...) (s)'

Done that too! So that's what the little notch on the side of the ROM is for! As for getting my hands dirty, I spend all day at work and all night at home doing this thing! Been doing it now for 4 months now. The majority has been creating classes of objects to act and look like standard windows objects. I now strongly BELIEVE subclassing is the ONLY way to go! This is important for any developer, and us wanna bees too!

The program I created in FPW turned out to be quite an undertaking, but It really turned out to be an extremely useful tool. One (I'm in the military) my squadron actually received outstanding ratings from the major command inspection teams and published throughout the command. I already have my goal of what I want, the problem is the new features in VFP (referential Integrity for example) make it extremely attractive and now even possible, no...NECESSARY, for me to take a professional developement approach
to this thing.

Marc,

>It is perfectly possible to develop an application without doing any OO. The question is if it is effective. I agree with the statement often stated that it is not the best way, but for your first application, I think is the only one available.

The only problem here is at the moment I need to migrate my previous program to VFP. I have learned much in the creation of classes, especially utilizing the nonvisual types. As you stated, do not use other people's code, and I have to agree to that. But what I have learned from the TASTRADE program (a business program, what I'm developing) I cannot afford NOT to use some of the code, especially the error handling routines, of which I know nothing about! In my last version, When I found errors, I just fixed them or worked around them, because I never really understood how to incorporate them. I believe my biggest problem is scoping...you must thoroughly understand the concepts for proper utilization of classes, that is why I am using a framework like it. A simple flow chart would be helpful, but I'm not experienced enough in 'scoping' to really logically define one.

I really appreciate the help guys, thanks
Some day I will be able to contribute to VFP world my knowledge and experience as you are doing now. The investment will be well worth it!
