There was an ad on Dice from both the company listing the required experience of any of several languages with no explanation. And a similar ad from a recruiter with the explanation paragraph.

It echo's my experience of attempting hire a VFP person. Pretty much impossible. Anyone with a resume listing any type of real technical sophistication also included dotnet. We offered the job to a couple of these types, but they ended up taking the dotnet job.

John R's comment made no sense whatsoever to me. I don't think it's a matter of easily doing anything. But a matter of realizing at least 6 yrs ago that it was a good time to move on from VFP. And they were successful. And not one person I interviewed who had both VFP and Dotnet experience complained about Dotnet and wished they were still doing VFP. Nor did they complain about the lack of auto-spanning in Dotnet.

>This employer struggles to find VFP developers. The employer therefore says that VFP is not a requirement, because in their experience a "strong experienced" programmer in another tool can be up to speed quickly with the employer's VFP app.

>Unless there is extra material you left out, I think the employer would be surprised to learn that they're actually saying that VFP people have found it easy to move to other tools, or that they disagree with people in the UT.

>I won't say I disagree with you here, but I'd be surprised if the job ad was written by anyone above the mentality of your
>average headhunter or HR type. I seldom place much weight in a job ad if I sense it was written by anyone other than an I.T. type.
