It all depends on how you look at it. If the method you use to backup SQL Server works for you, then that's great...continue using it. It won't work for other people....no problem there either.

Don't get me wrong - I've primarily used BE as backup software for a general backups. However, I don't see its feature for being able to backup live mdf and ldf files as being necessary or that big a deal, which was what your comment seemed to be at odds with.
