I can certainly live with situations when someone claims that he knows nothing about certain things, after all it's a privacy issue. I feel a bit uneasy when someone claims that nobody knows anything. It seems to be an unnecessary generalization. And I feel bad when I see some person who claims himself to be the center of knowledge while anyone with opposing views must be ignorant, especially when it's 'confirmed' by few web links. Internet has come with downside: anyone can copy/paste few web addresses and become an expert.

>You for the New Year I promised myself that I'll try very hard not to be too political about things, becuase in the end NO one really know anything about what's going on.
>
>But I do get a kick when I read some calling others ignorant when they themselves probably know very little about anything.

>>>I totally misunderstood your post then Gil. Another day in my life! :o) I need to take more time to truly 'comprehend' what I read :o)
>>>

>>>>Actually, Tracy, I was referring to the responses to your post and not to your posts. Your posts have always portrayed you as intelligent and informed.

>>>>>I'm sorry to disappoint you, but my responses are based on my personal opinion, nothing more, nothing less. Some are serious, some are sarcastic, some are jokes. Just to enlighten you, I have researched middle eastern history quite a bit and I've spent some time all over the world (years in fact). I've read the Qur'an. To Muslims I have not read or studied it though since no English version is considered the actual Qur'an. I am speaking based on personal experience and research. You may not agree with me, but I am not uninformed or ignorant. Enough said.

>>>>>>Dear Tracy,
>>>>>>
>>>>>>I've been reading the responses to your post on the release of the British Sailors and I must say that, for the most part, I'm disappointed with the response of the majority of those replies.
>>>>>>
>>>>>>What is amazing to me is that most of us here in the USA know so little about what's really going on in the world, especially the Middle East, and also know so little history about the area and the people who populate it.
>>>>>>The Dick 'n Bush neocons rely on the pavlovian response to saber rattling that an overwhelming portion of our people exhibit: unquestioning, champing-at-the-bit-to-nukem-back-to-the-stone-age prejudiced hatred. If those who mindlessly back to dominant "Bomb'em" response spent as much time in a month trying to understand what's going on and why it's going on as they do in a single day immersing themselves in the sports/entertainment arenas then maybe Dick 'n Bush wouldn't have been elected in the first place. Then maybe we wouldn't be in the spot we're in right now.
>>>>>>
>>>>>>I would suggest to those who would like to educate themselves on the middle east - the problems, the history - read Robert Fisk's column in The Independent (http://news.independent.co.uk/world/fisk/) for starters. His book 'The Great War For Civilization' is also a must read for anyone interested in finding a solution to the situation we are all in.
