I don't think VFP is by far a "complete" language, especially as long as the programming environment moves on. It will look and sound like funny Old English pretty soon, if it doesn't keep up with the times.

Many things have already been mentioned, but the most important ones for me would be:

- A vendor that is actually excited about the product and undestands/cares about the potential of the platform and the current user base and their daily needs. This thing about "unapproved 3rd party vendors" is, IMO, just MSBS -- if a product is properly marketed and cared for, becoming an approved vendor should be no big whoop.

- Marketing (see above).

- 64 bit compatibility (I don't completely buy the "almost complete rewrite" -excuse -- John Koziol said in a previous post that it is not as big of a deal as MS leads people to believe)

- 100% Visual & functional compatibility with Vista AND any other OS's coming down the pike in the future

- O-O Menu system

- Option to use strong typing (SET STRONG TYPING OFF/ON)

- .NET compatibility (yeah yeah, I know...)

And many more...
