If you did not try .NET yet then the problem was, you listened to them without checking if their complaints of being unsatisfied are worth your attention or not.The problem I see is the assumption that people have not tried NET, or have not appreciated what it can do.
The fact is that VFP is *far* better at NET in certain areas. Those areas may not matter to you, but that does not make you more qualified to comment on those areas. In 2005 I provided detailed reasons why I considered VFP superior in certain areas. NET prophets scoffed at any reported deficiency as usual, but senior MS people agreed.
My latest effort is to assess SSCE as a NET replacement for VFP cursors via Linq as proposed by various luminaries, but it appears that you can't access SSCE via Linq.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
