Theoretically, it might slow down under some circumstances:

- Suppose your "old" machine has a fast, single-core CPU such as a Pentium 4 Extreme Edition, which was available at speeds up to 3.73GHz

- Also suppose you "upgrade" to a Pentium D 915, which is dual-core at 2.80GHz

On your old machine, as long as it wasn't busy doing lots of other stuff, your single-threaded Fox app might run as fast as 3.73GHz most of the time.

In contrast, on the Pentium D 915, your app would get at most 2.80GHz because it can't take advantage of more than 1 core. Of course, you could run 2 copies of your app ;)

This scenario is a bit artificial; in practice, you'd probably upgrade to a Core 2 Duo, which gets large gains even at lower clock speeds because it's more efficient - does more work per clock cycle.
