Jim, no apologies necessary. We are all grown ups. I just hate to see .Net get beat up with out a fair shake. I think it is an excellent platform but I hate that it is attached to MSFT. I have nothing personal against MFST, I just feel that they are very fickle at times and change dev methodologies more frequently than I change socks. I buckled down and learned C# a few years back and now I am learning Java. C# is an excellent language but I'd love for it to mature without a huge paradigm shift anytime soon. Eventually I'd love to un-tether myself from MFST and allow my products to truly run cross platform.

The longer I code it seems like language choices go from being "a magic bullet" to a "lesser of all the evils". As of now, C# and VFP are the choices for me but as I said I hope eventually make s shift to a more independent language that can exploit Linux, Apple, and Windows. I'd have an easier time finding the Holy Grail, eh? Well, there is http://www.mono-project.com/Main_Page but it is lagging woefully behind .Net Framework releases. I think it is still stuck on v1.1?

At any rate, no worries. I think VFP apps have a good 5-6 years before desktops really start to embrace 64 bit. That is plenty of time for most pros to find a suitable replacement for VFP in ye ole' toolbox.
