I would not disagree with a word of what you've said here - especially in regard to the US healthcare system.

I am a free-enterprise libertarian capitalist to the core of my being and I think it is inexcuseable that a country this rich does not realize that our current inability to provide affordable healthcare to all our citizens is inefficient, economically stupid and inexcuseable. Many on the right here do not realize that social justice isn't just morally correct, but also contributes to economic growth and national security. So much could be done to provide preventive care especially which would save billions.

Of course it is a big country with power distributed a great deal ( I think people often forget that though they see our federal government oftentimes as the face of America, power is really much more widely distributed in our system ) That's a good thing in a lot of ways, but sometimes it makes changing direction very complicated as well.

But it is the best system imaginable - short of making me God Emperor with complete power over everything < s >
