>Just a quick question, I have no intent of using Vista right now in my development environment. However, I would like to install it on a 2nd computer thats less than a year old (Pent 4, 1 Gig Ram, etc.) just to test some software on. The Microsoft Vista updater checker recommended just the basic Home version on this Dell.

I am "enjoying my new computer with Windows Vista". I cannot give you the correct answer but so far I would caution anyone using Vista. Somehow I thing that the many flavors of Vista will behave differently depending upon what hardware and software you want to use.
By the way I am using the Vista Home Premium version.
Vista will not load things like SQL Server 2000, PageMaker, and gives a compatibility error and SQL Server 2005 has not loaded correctly – yet. I am “patient” and hope things work out with this new computer.
Do not tell my wife that I said that I am patient. She knows better! :)
I have always gone by the rule that any application I create must be tested on the same operating system as the user has. So I test on many flavors of operating systems. I would treat vista the same way.
