For a presentation you can switch to, say, 1024x786, 1200x1024 or something like that. May look a bit ugly on the monitor, as it will stretch/compress the pixels proportionately, but the projection should look right.
Thanks for the info. I wonder if some of the wide screen laptops can keep the aspect ratio correct and just use part of the screen if switching down to 1024x768? Maybe I should go tinker with the display models at the store and see what happens.
I was drooling over a laptop with 17-inch screen last night. It looks like the extra screen real estate would be very useful for development. (My new consulting gig has a dual-monitor dev machine which is spoiling me big-time).
