>>I've been using a Dell E1705 as my primary development machine since last summer. The only time I've noticed glare on the screen is when it is powered off. I use it in lots of different places with lots of different lighting conditions - no problem here. The native 1920 x 1200 display is really nice although fonts can be kinda small for my ancient eyes.

>Bill, have you encountered any programs that wont run on it? Can you list the programs you typically use on it?

I use VFP7, VFP8, VFP9, VS2005 SP1 (with VISTA patch), SQL2005 Developer Edition, and VSS2005 daily. I run Office 2007 (forget the version - ultimate? I think). No real problems (some minor annoyances).

IE7 behaves differently in Vista than in XP, and that is very annoying - I wind up with lots of extra IE7 windows when opening pages in different zones.

I haven't had much serious trouble with any application. RealPlayer (free version) gives me errors starting videos -that may be the specific version though.

I have some games that do odd things to the display when starting but behave OK once loaded. HALO plays OK - If it didn't I'd be back on XP (have to have priorities, right?)..
