I'll have to check her out . . . thanks.

>Well, I'm hoping he really was only feeling unwell at the time, but let's face it, he's no spring chicken any more.

>Anyway, as much as I like Leon (have 3 of his CDs), I'm really going to see Madeleine Peyroux. Strange lady. She spent a number of years as a street busker in Europe (mostly France), then she put out a CD that took the jazz world by storm. Absolutely rave reviews everywhere and it shot up the jazz charts. She has a little bit of Billie Holiday in her voice. Then she went AWOL. All kinds of crazy rumours were rife. About 10 years later she reappeared and put out a 2nd terrific CD. The time between, apparently she went back to busking in Europe. She seems to be staying put now, at least for a while.

>>I've been a fan of Leon since first seeing him on Saturday Night Live in the 70's. I have 4 of his CDs. I went to see him at a place here in Atlanta called the Roxy - now closed - back when I was in college in the 80's. It was a great show, but he was in his heyday at that time. He had a bigger band and it was just a really fun show. This one last month - which I just stumbled upon 4 days before - was only Leon, a piano player, and a coronet player. He kind of had a running joke about not feeling well and I figured it really wasn't a joke, so maybe he was just short on energy. However, with only three guys there just wasn't much oomph in the show. And his interaction with the other guys was sometimes inaudible, but he means it to be funny and part of the act. Can't enjoy something you can't hear. But I must admit I sang Leon Redbone tunes (or his version of them, at least) the rest of the week.

>>Now I expect Cherryholmes to be hot. They are really an up-and-coming group in bluegrass and really have been making a name for themselves. I saw them two years ago at the Ryman (The old Grand Ole Opry) in Nashville, TN.

>>>Gee, I hope I do better. I have tickets for June for Madeleine Peyroux with Leon Redbone.

>>>>Having a wide range of taste in music, I was happy to go see Leon Redbone last month (though I was kind of disappointed with the show) and Saturday the wifey and I go to see a bluegrass show featuring Cherryholmes. Good stuff.
