The honest answer is I have really no idea how difficult it would be to implement this feature although I suspect it can be done.

I assume the C# team see this as a somewhat "high level" feature and not appropriate for the purer C# language, hence why you will find this in VB.Net. However, remember that you can still do the following :-

TextBox t = this.textbox2;

and use "t." instead of just "." - not too bad really :)
