Do be careful regarding the character values generated. Character codes in the range 128-255 can cause bizzarre things to happen -- mainly because many of the lead-in characters for double-byte character sequences typtically used in Asian-language systems (e.g. Chinese, Japanese, Korean) are within these ranges. Best to make sure that you restrict values to printable ASCII codes (and probably safest to restrict to only alphanumeric).
