Let's separate the problems.
Do you use select statement to get a cursor for the data? Have you verified that you have correct data where?
For the problem with Remove Line if blank I don't know. Are you sure the objects are in the detail band and have you tried to check each object individually?
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
