One could argue that violent games and shows are a saftey valve, preventing them from doing it for real. Hell, if you can have a samurai sword fight with a Wii maybe you won't need to go out and slash. Same for porn, esp. the violent stuff. If the "afflicted" can't get any simulation of his desires/needs/fantasies then his only recourse is to do it for real.
