I have some forms where the user is entering data and I want them to be able to hit a function key to save or launch a pick list etc. The idea here is for the user to not have to reach for the mouse because these are data entry forms and speed of entry is important.

Another option is to have a menu item that does the lookup then assign the hot key to the menu.
