I must apologize in advance since I haven't read all the messages in the entire thread, so please forgive me if I'm restating something at has already been discussed here.

One of the results of the 'Just Say No' agenda is that there has been a spike in the number of kids that are contracting all the STDs orally - including getting genital herpies on the mouth.

I think that the urge for sex occurs in humans at the time that they are physically ready for sex (stating the obvious here) and at one time in our human history the other aspects involved were much less evolved than they are now, namely the emotional and the mental aspects of our nature. 10,000 years ago it was imperative that we procreate early and often. Now, with a longer growing period of the emotional and mental parts of ourselves, we are children for almost twice as long - except for the physical aspect.

So, any attempt to get children to abstain from sex needs to take into account this variance between the physical and the emotional/mental aspects. I think encouraging guilt-free masturbation has a better chance at success than complete abstainance.
