Isn't Greensboro in the Research Triangle? This came up just the other day at lunch. I was eating with two coworkers the day after the Duke lacrosse case was dropped. One of them played football at Wake Forest back around 1980 and said he was shocked how many rednecks there were. He said all the guys on the team who came from other parts of the country had similar reactions. His first weekend on campus there was a cross burning just a few miles away. He said the rednecks hated rich people -- ESPECIALLY those damned Duke students -- as much as they did blacks. I said I bet things have changed a lot with so much high tech work in the area now. Thoughts? That's not a leading question; I have spent very little time in the Carolinas, mostly just passing through. I *hope* things are better now than what Jim described.

>You can buy almost anything here in America. That doesn't mean that everyone owns everything. I live in the country and I have lived also in very very remote places (Colorado mountains above 9000') in the past. I now live around what would be considered serious 'rednecks.'

>Your idea is so ridiculous it is hilarous! Seriously Metin. It is so far removed from the truth. There may be 1 or 2 per 10,000, but if so, I've never met them or seen them. The closest is during hunting season. The days of riding around with your deer rifle in your pickup truck are pretty much over. Some do transport weapons enroute to turkey shoots and hunting. You have to be able to take your weapons with you in order to hunt. There is no real Dukes of Hazzard. Most of what you see on television is an exaggeration of the truth for entertainment purposes only. It is farce.. A perfect example of exaggerated humour (farce) is the humour of Jeff_Foxworthy, Grandpa Jones on Hee Haw, and Dr. Cox on Scrubs. Also, have you seen the 2001 movie Vizontele? It is a Turkish farce set in 1974.

>>>>I see at american movies it like an american country symbol. A rifle on back window of a pickup. You cannot put your gun on a seeable place in there. I think so it makes guns for children eyes an usual accessory.
>>>
>>>Metin, people have told you over and over again what you see in movies is not the norm here. I live in Iowa, considered as one of the top country places in the country, and I have never seen anybody with a gunrack in their truck. I don't even think it's legal anymore. All guns have to be unloaded and in a secure case to be transported in a vehicle, as far as I know.

>>Did you ever go countryside? I'm not sure movies are wrong. They're not sci-fi. Look these links. There are a lot of type truck gun racks selling in the USA...
